The CCM 1:48 scale die-cast model of the Caterpillar 16M Motor Grader captures the superb engineering of the actual machine in high detail. The moldboard, circle and hydraulic systems are all able to be displayed in a realistic position. Front steering tilts to the side so that the model looks ready to grade miles of smooth roadway at the proper angle. A full array of fine-scale details are apparent, such as opening doors to the full operator’s cab, movable seven-tine rear ripper/scarifier, and a segmented midpoint to aid in steering. Accurate scale tires, lights, mirrors, and grab rails contribute to the realism, all finished with Caterpillar approved paint and markings. Retail Price: $239.95 and shipping cost.

My first impression: Unique hand-built and very complete scale model and a nice addition in my Caterpillar 16M series. More than well worth the wait! This is a must have for every Caterpillar collector.

Soon I will add the complete review with more pictures from the model, machine in 1:1 and background information. So stay tuned for more!

Caterpillar 16M Motor Grader

The Caterpillar 16M Motor Grader was introduced in 2006 as the replacement for the Caterpillar 16H. It was manufactured in the USA only. The machine is equipped with a Caterpillar C13 Engine with ACERT(TM) Technology to meet U.S. EPA Tier 3 and EU Stage IIIa emissions regulations and delivers 291 hp and up to 337 with the VHP (Variable Horsepower) system, has a 16.0 ft wide moldboard and weighs 67600.0 lb. Since 2015, the 16M Series 3 briefly called 16M3 is on the market.

The Caterpillar 16M Motor Grader was released by Caterpillar end 2006 and replaced the 10 H-Series models and features a number of revolutionary concepts in motor grader design-most notably a pair of joysticks replacing as many as 15 levers and a steering wheel. Caterpillar applied for more than 100 new patents.

New features include dynamic styling that opens up lines of sight, easy adjustment of the drawbar, circle and moldboard (DCM), a high torque all-wheel-drive system, enhanced power management and a emissions-compliant Caterpillar C13 Engine with ACERT(TM) Technology to meet U.S. EPA Tier 3 and EU Stage IIIa emissions regulations and delivers 291 hp and up to 337 with the VHP (Variable Horsepower) system. Caterpillar considers their M Series Motor Graders to be a revolution in operational efficiency and overall productivity.

The Caterpillar 16M Motor Grader is designed to help build and maintain the haul roads needed to support mining operations.
