On Saturday 21 June, Stichting Polderpioniers Flevoland will hold a special edition of their monthly Open House in Swifterbant (Flevoland) in the Netherlands. In addition to the museum, which focuses on the reclamation and exploitation of the IJsselmeerpolders, this day will be colored yellow by the Caterpillar brand. The iconic manufacturer from the US will be 100 years old in 2025 and the Polderpioniers do not want to let that pass unnoticed. Collectors with tractors from all over the Netherlands will come to Swifterbant.
On this day, all kinds of classic Caterpillar crawler tractors and dozers can be seen. From the Fifteen from 1931 to the Caterpillar D4C, from the early 1960s. Many of these tractors were used in the development of the polders in the 1930s to the 1980s. The showpiece is the Caterpillar D9E of Mr. Frits van Middendorp. This tractor was bought new at the time by the Van Damme construction company from Wieringerwerf. In the polder, this mastodon was used for deep ploughing and deep digging. This yellow monster returns to Flevoland one more time to be admired.
It promises to be a beautiful day for young and old. For fans of Caterpillar or just technology enthusiasts who want to see unique machines. Of course, the inner man is also thought of.
This unique event is not to be missed. We're coming! Will we see you on Saturday? Highly recommended!
