Caterpillar EL300 Excavator

The Caterpillar EL300 Excavator in 1:50th scale was released by Shinsei in 1989 with #606

Just like the real thing, the Mitsubishi MS280 and MS300 Excavators were also produced as scale model variants by Shinsei.

The differences between the scale model of the Caterpillar E300 Excavator and this Caterpillar EL300 Excavator are:

The Caterpillar EL300 has plastic tracks instead of rubber. It is equipped with two lifting eyes on the counterweight, and its most distinctive feature is the stepped design with the handrail on the side of the boom where the cab is not located.

The model is well-designed but otherwise rather bare-bones: plastic lifting cylinders, no interior in the cab, and the paintwork is certainly not up to par. All pivot points are highlighted in yellow. But most importantly, the characteristic and most striking differences are precisely incorporated into this scale model. Therefore, it's a nice addition to my Caterpillar (Mitsubishi) E Series Excavator collection.

So far I have not been able to discover whether the model was indeed produced as a variant by Shinsei in the factory in a limited number, mainly because they did not adapt the packaging to the EL300 version?

So more additional background information about both Caterpillar E300 and EL300 Excavator scale models is most welcome!
