E Series

Caterpillar and Mitsubishi have a history of collaboration in the construction equipment industry since 1963, particularly with hydraulic Excavators. Caterpillar initially partnered with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) in a joint venture called Caterpillar Mitsubishi Ltd., which later became Shin Caterpillar Mitsubishi (SCM). While Caterpillar now fully owns the SCM operations, the relationship continues, with MHI still supplying engines for Caterpillar construction machinery, including Excavators. Caterpillar's Akashi facility in Japan is a key design and manufacturing center for the current Caterpillar Excavator line. 

Of the E series are diecast scale models released in 1:48th scale of the E300 and EL300 by Shinsei.  Within the GL3D Models collection appeared the custom EL200B, EL240, E450 and E650 in 1:50th scale.
